RCC Laptop Checkout

Students can now place requests for RCC laptops and pick them up at scheduled curbside pick-up times. Please see the instructions below.

  1. Fast Fact: Laptops have been purchased through partnerships with the RCC Friends of the Library, The RCC Foundation and through grants from a portion of the Technology fee that students pay.
  2. CalWORKs is designed to promote self-sufficiency through education and employment. If you are a CalWORKs/Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) recipient with minor children and are attending or planning to attend RCC you may be eligible to receive support services.
  3. 'I was an international student at RCC. I transferred to UC Berkeley with a 3.94 GPA where I am an Economics major. At RCC, the smaller size of classes gave me a better opportunity to talk to professors, to learn, build self-confidence, and also make friends for life.

RCC is happy to announce a limited supply of laptops for students who need them.

If you already have access to a computer, we ask that you continue using that computer so that those without access have a chance to borrow a laptop and enroll in RCC online classes, perhaps for their very first time.

Students can now place requests for RCC laptops through the library's website and pick them up at scheduled curbside pick-up times. The steps to request a laptop for pickup are as follows:

  1. Place laptop request in RCC Library OneSearch.

Scroll down and click the Sign-in button on the yellow bar in the middle of the screen.

Sign in using your RCCD email and email password.

Once signed in click the “Request” button. If there is no “Request” button then the item is unavailable.

  1. You will receive an email at your RCC student email confirming your request has been received.
  2. You will receive a second email with a link to fill out a laptop contract as well as to schedule a pickup time.

Click on the link in the email and follow the prompts.

Submit:

  1. After you complete all the above actions, you will receive a “Loan Receipt” letter with your pick-up time and location.

Go to the curbside pickup location detailed in the email. All visitors to campus must wear a mask, maintain 6-feet social distance, and should not enter campus if they are feeling unwell.

Notes and rules for requesting items during the closure

  • Items (including laptops) will be checked out for the entire semester.
  • Requests are first-come, first-served.
  • For laptops, ensure that you have received a 'Loan Receipt” letter before arriving on campus.
  • If a requester fails to arrive during their appointment window, the request will be canceled and the materials will be made available to another student.
  • All items available from Riverside City College library must be requested from the library’s website (using the OneSearch box) and picked up during the offered times.
  • The library can only deliver items already requested online with the appropriate confirmations; we cannot accommodate unscheduled pickups or check out additional items at the curbside.

Third…come into to any campus library and check out a laptop for two days at a time.
